Our new away shirts have brought us a degree of success. In the Tadcaster Giantkillers 7 a-side tournament in May 2004, we managed to get through golden goal extra time and a penalty shoot out in the semi-final, but were unfortunately beaten by a last minute goal in the final. Tournament stats were scored 7, conceded 1, goal difference + 6 goals.
The end of season trophy presentations were:-
Thomas Sharp - 'Best Attendance'
Marcus Chomyszyn - 'Best Attitude'
James Wainman - 'Most Improved Player'
Joseph Bullock - 'Top Goalscorer'
Tom Giles - 'Player's Player of the Season'
Joseph Venable - 'Man of the Match Award'
Matthew Lee - 'Manager's Player of the Season'
We kicked off the 2002/03 season with a recruitment drive as we had a small squad of only 14 players. By the end of the season our numbers had expanded to 22 players. During the season, coaching and refereeing qualifications were obtained by a number of our parents.
Despite our inclusive squad selection policy, the team finished a creditable 4th in the League and our performances in the second half of the year improved dramatically.
We reached the semi-finals of the main cup competition, and were narrowly beaten by the eventual winners. We also reached the semi-finals of the Tadcaster Giantkillers Tournament, but were beaten by the cup winners after a dramatic golden goal during injury time.
There were a number of other memorable moments:-
A hat-trick for many players, including Matthew Lee, James Wainman, Alex McGawley, Simon Dale, Joseph Venable, William Cracknell, Joseph Bullock with apologies to any-one I've missed out.
A new recruit, Joe Coleman, scoring his first goal for the club after only 3 touches!
Felix Hill's cartwheel celebration after scoring against Wetherby.
Jack Goldstone scoring direct from a free kick against Lawnswood Lasers.
A variety of increasingly elaborate goal celebrations involving corner flags and a roly-poly.
The season ended on a high note with victory in the supplementary cup final against Harrogate Railway
